Taking the Plunge

It’s official. I’m doing the Oceanside 70.3 in ’08. It will be my first half Ironman. It was also the first time I had to provide my health plan’s ID number on a race entry form. Sort of punctuates the seriousness of the distance, doesn’t it?

After reading the entry rules from stem to stern, I agreed/promised to train properly for the race. Once I’ve recovered from my marathon this weekend, I’ll spend the rest of this winter preparing for the 1.2-mile swim, 56-mile (hilly, windy) bike, and 13.1-mile run.

Hitting the “Submit Entry” button felt like I just jumped off the high dive into the deep end.
