Oh, She Got Me

My younger like-a-sistah blogger and Comeback Kid #3 Tawnee tagged me with one of those "tell-us-about-you" survey things. So, here ya’ go...

The rules are:

1. Fill it out
2. Change one question with one of your own
3. Add an additional question
4. Tag 3 other people to do the same

1. What are your current obsessions?
My friend who’s been in the hospital the past eight weeks after his skiing accident. I think of him and his family every day. After that it’s me becoming an athlete again after the surgery in January. On the work front, I’m absorbing the social media thing like a sponge and getting up to speed on how it integrates with traditional marketing. I would love to do blogging for businesses.

2. Which item from your closet are you wearing most often?
My mom’s warm-ups and sneakers. I wore them to rehab all winter. Some days they bring me comfort. Some days I think they give me super powers.

3. Last thing you bought for yourself?

A Yamuna ball.

4. What’s for dinner?
Chicken salad from the deli counter on a half bagel and a mixed veggie salad I made with chopped red peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, and garbanzo beans with balsamic dressing. (Yeah, I’m eating alone tonight.)

5. Say something to the person who tagged you:

Tawnee, I admire the way you’re juggling your crazy lifestyle and really going for it with everything you do. The pics from your training rides have been a real bonus this winter since I’ve been missing my outdoor rides.

6. What is one item you could not live without?
Ditto on the contacts. My friend nicknamed me “Miss Magoo” and I was legally blind as a kid. That first cup of coffee in the morning is second. I gave up coffee for a year and a half when my doc put me on a super strict diet, but he let me have it again.

8. Vacation spots you must visit before you die?
I did a paper on Tahiti in French class in high school. I think I need to go there for sure. For the longest time, I wanted to do that 70.3 in Monaco. I’ll get back to Martha’s Vineyard for sure. I went there every year when I was a kid. That place centers me.

8. What is your most immediate short-term goal:
Find more work. The life of the freelancer!

9. What are you reading right now?
The new issue of Triathlete mag and Social Media Marketing An Hour a Day.

10. Tell us three random things about you.
1.) When I lived back East, I was into curling. I belonged to a club that made it very fun. The building had four sheets of ice, tartan carpeting, a huge stone fireplace and a bar where you could help yourself to the great beer on tap. I played four days a week. It made the winters go by fast.
2.) I’ve studied five different styles of martial arts. Those classes were incredibly challenging. I kept switching styles because I kept switching jobs and moving to different places, but I enjoyed them all.
3.) I used to belong to the Charles River Wheelmen bike club. Back then, there was no internet. We’d call an answering machine to find out where the weekend rides would be. We’d follow the random spray-painted arrows that marked the way. Sometimes we’d miss ‘em. There were no cell phones back then either. I was always kind of amazed we made it back to the car.

11. What is the last movie you saw and enjoyed?

Into the Wild. It was one of our first dates. We loved it. But I must admit, I don’t go to the movies very often. I’ve got Netflix.

12. What’s your guilty pleasure?
I have my college roommate (Winter) trained to send me Devil Dogs when I get desperate. They’re a chocolate sandwich cake with whipped cream in the middle.

13. What’s your favorite smell?
Eau de Cat 1

14. What is your fav trashy reality TV show?
Survivor. I’ve been meeting the same group of friends on Thursday night for the past 9 years. Or is it 10? We have a great time. It doesn’t even matter if the show is good anymore. It’s just good to see everyone. They’re like family to me.

15. What's something random that's happened to you recently?
I reconnected with a bunch of friends I knew from first grade. We all had pigtails back then. It made me feel grounded to hear from them again.

16. What’s one thing you can't go a day with out doing?
Coffee – preferably, two cups. One will do if 734’s Dad makes it. He puts twice as much coffee in every pot!

17. What do you have an addiction to?
Definitely TV. I’m working on it.

18. What’s your favorite holiday?
I think it’s Thanksgiving. I love gravy! (Seriously, I could do shots of gravy.)

19. How many pairs of shoes (not just running) do you have??
I think it’s about 40 now. I inherited a bunch from my mom since I’m the only daughter that was her size. She had great taste. My other sister got her clothes gene. I got my dad’s geeky gadget gene.

20. What are you pining for right now?
I still have my eyes on Cervelo P2C. I think I want an iBike power meter too.

OK, now I'm tagging three people:
