O.C. Blazeman

This Saturday, June 24th, there will be a very unusual Ironman and Half Ironman event held in honor of Jon Blais. It’s a small grass roots affair where everyone is welcome to do some or all of the 140.6 or 70.3-mile distances. Enter alone or grab a few training buddies and complete the whole thing. The course will take you through Huntington Beach and Seal Beach.

If you can’t participate in the event, you can always support it by contributing any ol’ amount to the War On ALS.

Jon Blais was featured on NBC Ironman World Championships 2005 in Kona Hawaii. He wanted to spread the word about ALS, a disease he was suffering with while he managed to complete the 140.6-mile course when many thought he could not do it.

In 2006, he returned to Kona and spoke again, stating, "Last year I completed Ironman, this year I'm in a wheelchair, next year I'll be gone." Sadly, he was right. Jon lost his battle against ALS, and passed away on May 27, 2007.

Please accept the challenge "So Others May Live" and participate in the OCBLAZEMAN on June 24th. And spend some time with Jon’s inspirational work at ALS Warrior Poet.
